Newton International Fellow to join Acoustics and Audio Group
We are pleased to announce that Dr. Michele Ducceschi has been awarded a Newton International Fellowship from the Royal Society and British Academy to join the Acoustics and Audio Group at the University of Edinburgh.
Dr. Ducceschi, currently at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Techniques Avancées, in Palaiseau, France, and was formerly a PhD student at the Ecole Polytechnique, after receiving his MSc in Acoustics and Music Technology at the University of Edinburgh in 2010.
His project is concerned with fine-grained physical modelling of the guitar for sound synthesis applications, and he will be affiliated with the NESS project, funded by the European Research Council, which is a joint grouping between the Acoustics and Audio Group and the Edinburgh Parallel Computing Centre, based in the School of Physics and Astronomy.
The Newton Fellowship is designed to bring the world’s finest international scholars to the UK to undertake postdoctoral work. Approximately 40 such awards are made annually.
